Hello ladies. Today I have a very interesting post for you. I recently received an amazing gift by my amazing sister (her blog). It's my very first Mac product and it is this gorgeous lipstick. I couldn't have been more happier with this because out of all products she could've chosen she gave me the one I will use the most. When I'm doing my makeup, the best thing to apply is any sort of lip product. I became really obsessed with them and I especially like wearing more red, orange and purple shades, whereas Maja likes the nudes more (we kind of don't match in this area :P). Anyways I'm sure you've all guessed by now that I will do a review on this lipstick and let's see if it's really worth the money.
Ever since I started watching Youtube videos and beauty gurus I got a bit curious about the high end makeup products. I saw so many bloggers talk about so many brands and their products and it really intrigued me to have some but that of course wasn't possible for a 16 year old me so I was 'stuck' with the drugstore products (which a lot of them are actually great). Now this has ended because of my first high end product.
Lipstick is in the shade called Quelle Surprise and it is this deep purply colour which is absolutely perfect for fall/winter. I would wear it more in winter because of its intensiveness (is that a word?). The packaging is the standard one-black/silver. When I first got to hold this product I noticed that the packaging doesn't feel and it doesn't look cheap. It's actually quite heavy in comparison to drugstore lipsticks. So that was a nice thing to experience but then again it never really bothered me if the packaging didn't look so 'expensive' (unless it broke immediately...).
It has a nice smell and when I first applied it, it had a quite creamy consistency so it doesn't have a matte finish. It also says on the packaging: 'Cremesheen Lisptick'. Because it's such an intense colour I used it in combination with lipliner which was by a brand S-he in the shade 003 and let me tell you guys that it matched perfect and it was only around 2 or 3 €. You can tell that it's not the best quality but I don't care because it's less than a freakin' Mac lip liner which is 16,50$. I like this alternative.
So I really liked this product and the richness of the colour. The next thing I really liked about this product is that it kept my lips hydrated. I didn't have a feeling of my lips being dry so that was a big plus for me.
The only thing that it did bother me was the staying power. The staying power for me wasn't very good. I mean it did last a good amount of hours. I think it lasted around 3 hours without re-applying it but while I had it on my lips I didn't feel quite relaxed. I felt it on my lips so I was nervous all the time if I smudged it, is it still on... It almost felt like it was to heavy for me. Maybe I put too much on my lips but it did feel really heavy. It's like it was saying to me: 'I'm here, be careful.' Emm, what?
Overall I was/am really content with the product and I am so grateful to Maja. I like the product, I like the colour she picked and I really like that she helped me experience my first high end product. I can see what the fuss is all about when it comes to this brand. In terms of lipsticks I was thoroughly impressed because when you apply it on your lips it feels really smooth and you don't need to apply multiple coats to get that strong colour.
This was my review I really hope you enjoyed it. Do you have any Mac products? I would like to know how do you feel about them. Let me know in the comments below and I will talk to you very soon with another beauty related post? Who knows :D Have a lovely day.
